| Protect your Children from Sexual Abuse | These eight things are by no means 100% effective but they are a good start. I think you will quickly see that the most important part is learning to communicate with our children. |

A great site for free curriculum. Also a very cool place to serve if you ever get a chance; call them and they will help you set up a time to come help out.

I only use this site for game ideas. They break them up into categories for large room, small room or by group size. Not all of the games are ones I would use at Living Hope.

Movie/Game Reviews

Plugged In (by Focus on the Family)
IMDB: Internet Movie Database; Totally secular, but if you look under the parents guide it will give you a good idea what the movie is about and what is questionable.
Common Sense Media: Again this is a secular site, but you can still get all the info you need about a game BEFORE you let your kids play it.

How can I make the Worship Service great for my kids?
|
Start at Home: Get everyone up early enough to eat breakfast, wake up and be ready to go without feeling rushed. Frazzled kids don't make good listeners. Also, don't let them stay up late Saturday night. Drowsy kids don't make god listeners either. A good rule of thumb is to not let them stay up much later than you would a school night.
Consistency: Attending services every week is a big deal for kids. They develop friendships, learn good habits and get to know their teachers on a deeper level. All these things will help them get the most from the services.
Reinforcement: Ask your kids on the way home, "Hey, what was the main point at worship today?" Talk to them throughtout the week to help them remember what we taught them. Reread the scripture passage used each week with the kids and reinforce the main points.
Commit: Come join us for some of the service times with your kids. They will learn from you that what we do here is important enough for you to volunteer and be a part.

What time is it? ToolTime! That's right—it's time for your kids' teachers to help them know how to use all the tools God has given them to be all they can be for God. From 8 to 8:45 on Sunday mornings, the kids meet downstairs for some terrific discipleship time with some crazy teachers.
Places You Can Serve: Help with the classes as needed. This will also train you to teach in other areas of Children's Ministry.
At one point in the Sunday morning worship service, Pastor Butch will invite the kids down to the front, and he will teach them a short lesson. Your child is welcome to participate. After he is done, he will dismiss them to attend Children’s Worship.
During our worship service, we offer Children's Worship for children K-6. The children are taught how we can worship our most Holy and Precious God through skits, music, and the study of His Word. Basically, it's church on the kids' level.
Places You Can Serve: We are looking for individuals to help out so we can break into small groups after the kids are through with the lesson portion, to make sure they really understand the main point of the lesson.
Wednesday nights during the school year, we have AWANA, which is a program where kids memorize Scripture and have a blast learning about the Bible. Your child can join in at any time during the year. While you are attending one of our discipleship classes, your kids will be downstairs learning and growing as well. You can learn more about the AWANA program at www.awana.org.
Places You Can Serve: Every area of AWANA needs volunteers.
WARNING! This is not your everyday VBS. Here at LHBC, we offer more of a summer camp. VBS is usually held one of the first two weeks in June. From 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., we get the kids involved in everything from worship to water slides. Our primary goal here is, of course, to teach the kids about God in a fun and creative way. The skits are terrific, the games are fantastic, and the teaching is phenomenal.
Every year, we have one last summer getaway for the kids before they go back to school. Surrounded by nature, the kids can swim, play, worship, and learn so much about the nature of our wonderful Lord. Camp is usually held somewhere between the last two weeks of July and the first week of August, depending upon which session we attend.
