Missions is the heartbeat of this Body. As the Lord continues to expand our ministries to the ends of the earth, we are watching and praying that we will respond to where He is working.

Every year at this time, we as a body take time to reset and refocus on the vision of what it means to be a part of Living Hope. As part of that refocus, we strive to take a missional approach to what we do as a body. We believe that as part of the overflow of our worshipping love of God, we can’t help but praise and share Him with all of those that we encounter.

We believe that there are four ways in which we can be involved in missions: by Going, Giving, Praying, and Advocating.

Going: getting involved by living your entire life on “mission” with God. God is always at work (John 5:17) and we must be sensitive to where He is working. We must constantly ask ourselves the following question, “How is the Lord working right now and in what ways am I going to serve people, meet needs, and share?” How have you stepped out of your comfort zone, whether that is locally or internationally, to go on mission with God?

Giving: there is a cost to everything, including ministry. How do you support missional opportunities or missionaries? This can be done via financial gifts above and beyond your normal support to the body (Acts 20:35). This gift can also be the gift of your time and talents to support missionary causes (1 Pet 4:10).

Praying: Whom are you currently praying for faithfully? This can be ministries, missionaries, and those that are hurting or in need (1 Tim 2:1).

Advocacy: How are you being a mouthpiece for missions or missionary causes (Proverbs 31:8-9)? Through our love for Christ we should be burdened for missions and those that are actively involved. Our sense of advocacy should be an overflow of our burden to share with others and our involvement. How do you advocate with a missional mindset?

During this time of reset and focus remember that your mission field is everywhere you go (Mk 16:15, Ps 96:3-4)! We are all missionaries who should seek to share the Gospel with the lost, out of our love for our Amazing Savior. Those that are saved are empowered by the Holy Spirit to go out and do His work (Acts 1:8). This month remember that wherever you go you are called to be on mission and share the good news of Jesus.

Upcoming mission opportunity: Community Workday will be Saturday, September 23rd from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. with LH Bryan. Please meet at St. Michael’s Academy in Bryan.

At Living Hope, we reach out in many ways, striving to meet needs and share Christ here in our community and all around the world. We desire to minister Christ to the helpless and hurting of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds in hopes that they will come to personally know the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Join us in serving communities locally and around the world as an individual, with a Hope Group, or as a family. Pray for workers and pray for people around the world to come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8 (NIV)missions web image

Are you ready to get involved in what God is doing? Our strategy and philosophy of mission ministry is seen in the above verse. Local, national, and worldwide mission needs and causes are all emphasized here at Living Hope. We offer real-life opportunities to meet needs and share Christ amongst our neighbors and to the ends of the earth. By getting outside the walls of a building and into our very real world, you can be the very hands and feet of Christ before a watching and hurting world.

Ways to Get Involved

  • Join the Team: The Mission Team is praying for those interested in joining our team; please pray and see if that is YOU! We have monthly meetings, usually the third Sunday of each month, at 4 p.m. Members of our team help organize, plan, and help to prepare our body for missions. We are involved with people locally as well as others around the world. If you are passionate about following a life on mission, please come be part of this team.
