Welcome to the Discipleship Ministry Team page! If you're reading this, it means you're interested in the word "discipleship" (and maybe even serving!). You may have come here thinking, "I want to be a teacher at Living Hope, so I'll join this team." That's a possibility. But a teacher must be ready to apply what he/she knows, and this team gives you the opportunity for humble service. This is the place where we make everything possible for our teachers.

(Jesus said,) "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect." Matthew 24:24.

One objective of our School of Discipleship is to lead our congregation to develop a desire and an ability to understand and apply God's Word in their daily lives. Jesus warned His disciples there will be much deception in the world we live in and so we must be prepared so as not to be led astray.

We recognize the summer months bring erratic schedules for our church family who are on vacation or serving on mission trips. Therefore, the School of Discipleship is excited to announce new mini-mesters for the summer semester. We will divide our summer schedule into the following segments:

  • Mini-mester 1 - May 7 - June 4
  • Mini-mester 2 - June 11 - July 9
  • Mini-mester 3 - July 16 - August 13
  • We will offer at least three courses each mini-mester on subjects such as Prayer, Sharing Your Faith, Christian Apologetics, Stewardship, and the Inductive Bible Study method. Sign-ups will be available at least two weeks prior to the mini-mesters so you will be able to see which classes are being offered.

For those that are able to commit to a full 10-week semester, we will also offer Living by the Book, Foundations, and Christian Beliefs for the 10 week period running June 11 - August 13. Our Bible Study on The Gospel of Mark will run concurrently during the entire May 7 - August 13 period. This Bible Study is designed so that you can join in at any time, So, if the mini-mesters still do not fit your schedule, please join in on The Gospel of Mark Bible Study on Sunday mornings. There is a place for everyone. All classes will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. every Sunday. - Don

Don't get me wrong—our teachers are great! The BEST! But sometimes they need a little help from others to be truly successful. That is how the Body works, right? So how can you be involved with this team? First of all, if you're a member of Living Hope, you're qualified to be on the team. Now that you know you are qualified, you need to know that you'll be expected to attend our team meetings (we need to know what God is showing you about discipleship!). But how can you serve? Here are a few areas:

    • Supplies Master: Our teachers can't remember everything and definitely could use some help with organization (i.e. need someone who can keep up with all the stuff we use and get it ordered, delivered, inventoried, and put away (such as pens, pencils, whiteboard markers, books, workbooks, publications, etc.). This may be multiple people. You'll be the ultimate Internet detective as you search for the best buy, the cheapest prices. You'll rub elbows with publishers as you negotiate great discounts for us.
    • Technology Superstar: With so many people using audio/video equipment at Living Hope, occasionally get broken or lost (have you ever lost a remote control?). We need working equipment when our classes meet, and you could be the one to make sure it happens. You would be responsible for making sure the equipment is working and ready for the teacher before the start of class. When things break, they need to be replaced. You may ask the Body for a donation, or you may need to find the best buy in town. You'll take care of special requests and know how to do it. You'll make sure equipment is available for classes or events that occur somewhere other than the College Station location. You might even form a small tech team to share this area of service.
    • Clerk Commander: Our teachers need copies. They need stuff typed up. They need to know calendar info. They need to know which classroom they will have, who will be in their class, etc. Could you possibly help keep these people in line?
    • Discipleship Promotions Officer: People often are surprised to hear that our classes have already started. They never heard about the classes and don't know what they're about. You'll be part of a group that will help with newsletter information, sign-ups for our classes, and calendar planning, and you'll work with our supplies group on order timing. There's more. Lots more. Interested?

If you think you've found the place for you, join us at our next meeting or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
